Alliance Donne is guided by a committed Board of Directors whose members bring diverse expertise and a shared connection to women, culture, and community. Many are Italian first- and second-generation women, alongside allies deeply rooted in Italian heritage in Québec. Together, they provide strategic leadership to ensure Alliance Donne continues to grow with purpose and impact.

Giuliana Fumagalli

Giuliana Fumagalli is the former Mayor of Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension. The daughter and granddaughter of Italian immigrants, she is an anthropologist who has worked for over 20 years as a labour activist and in the social and community sector. She is driven by a desire to make a difference in people's lives and relies on collective intelligence to build more equitable and supportive communities where people are at the heart of decision-making.

Anna Villata

Anna has over 30 years of experience in special education in teaching and learning, school administration and leadership. She is a lifelong learner with a passion for leadership, research pedagogy and change in schools, and advocates for inclusive, student-centred education. Known for promoting positive cultures and productive work environments, she leads with humility, confidence, and transparency. As a visionary, she strives to build consensus and commitment to group goals, embracing diversity and inclusion.

Alice Notarangelo

Alice Notarangelo, 24, originally from Palagianello, Italy, left her hometown to pursue a bachelor's degree in human resources management at Concordia University in Montreal, where she graduated in 2023. Currently the human operations coordinator at SRTX, she brings her passion for Italian culture, cuisine and music to her work, infusing every role with her vibrant heritage and global experiences.

Carole Gagliardi

Carole Gagliardi is Director of Business Development and Community Relations for Panoram Italia magazine. A prominent figure in Quebec’s Italian business and communications community, she holds a BA in Modern Languages and Translation from the University of Montreal. She has produced and hosted Teledomenica (CFCF TV) and edited Corriere Italiano. Carole has served on multiple boards, including Télé-Québec, the Santa Cabrini Hospital Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Canada, and CIBPA, and continues to contribute to women’s advancement initiatives and the Canadian Italian Desjardins Credit Union.

Luisa Miniaci-Di Leo

A positive thinker fluent in four languages, she has coordinated the Montreal chapter of the PKD Foundation of Canada since 2014, raising awareness and funds to support essential research on polycystic kidney disease. She also brings experience as a business administrator at Viable Power Conversion Technologies, where she managed budgets, inventory, production processes, and engineering change orders, ensuring compliance with strict military specifications.

Michaela Di Cesare

Michaela is a playwright and performer with an MFA in Drama from the University of Toronto. Her solo show 8 Ways My Mother was Conceived has been performed across North America, and her plays—including Successions, FOMO, and Extra/Beautiful/U—have received critical recognition and awards. She has served as playwright-in-residence at the Centaur Theatre and written for stage, web series, and film, including Sex & Ethnicity and The Carcass. As an actor, she has appeared in numerous theatre productions and on screen in projects such as Transplant, The Bold Type, Mafia INC, and Fatal Vows.

A skilled negotiator, Anna leverages her expertise in property contracts and transactions to secure the best outcomes. Outside of real estate, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and discovering new restaurants and cafés.

Carolina Manganelli

Called to the Barreau in 2005, Carolina runs her own law firm, specializing in human rights, discrimination, harassment, and the protection of vulnerable populations. A two-term assessor of the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal, she is accredited in workplace harassment investigations and has also practised Indigenous and refugee law. She holds degrees from McGill University and a Master’s in Human Rights from University College London. Fluent in English and French, she also speaks Italian and Greek.

Virginia Casale

Virginia Casale is a hospitality and catering professional with over 30 years of experience and eight years of teaching in the industry. She has managed guest services at major Montreal hotels and is a 25-year member of Les Clefs d’Or, serving as President—the second woman and first Canadian in 70 years. She has also overseen the association’s development in the Americas and has spoken at international hospitality events. A McGill graduate with honours in Italian, Virginia is known for her dedication to exceptional customer service and her expertise in managing challenging requests.

Anita Aloisio is a documentary filmmaker, researcher and media correspondent. She holds over 15 years of experience in the industry. Her films and media work revolve around issues of culture, immigration, language and politics. Anita has completed her Masters in Media Studies where she explored the various facets of documentary to expand her professional and academic works and aims to further pursue her studies within a PhD framework.

Arte Cavallo, founded in 2020, is led by Sandy Cavallo, a Montreal-based artist and art collector. With over twenty years of experience in creative and business fields, she oversees curation and daily operations, drawing on her background in fashion, visual arts, design, and event planning. Sandy negotiates prices, appraises artworks when needed, and guides companies and individuals in acquiring art. She also represents artists working in various media, connecting their work with collectors and offering a personalized service supported by her training in fashion and graphic design.

Connie Guzzo McParland

Connie Guzzo-McParland is President and Co-Director of Guernica Editions. She holds a BA in Italian literature and an MFA from Concordia University, where she received the David McKeen Award for her thesis novel Girotondo. An excerpt, Verso Halifax, won second prize at Italy’s Premio Letterario Cosseria in 2025. Her debut novel, The Girls of Piazza d’Amore (2013), was shortlisted for the QWF First Novel Award, and its sequel, The Women of Saturn (2017), earned multiple literary prizes in Italy. She later published the bilingual family biography An Opera in 3 Acts (2022). Her translation The Twelfth Room will be released by Guernica in fall 2023.

She studied biochemistry and brings over twenty years of corporate experience in the pharmaceutical, medical, and chemical sectors, managing complex projects and multi-million-pound transactions. Known for her strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, she prioritizes understanding clients’ needs to deliver exceptional service.

I am a young Italian-Canadian from Montreal. My grandparents immigrated from Italy in the late 1950s, and I grew up in eastern Montreal. I hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Montreal and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in notarial law from the University of Sherbrooke, and I will soon be sworn in as a notary in Quebec. I am passionate about women's issues and preserving Italian culture! I am also interested in cooking, baking, hiking, travelling, and outdoor activities. I hope to use my legal training and professional experience to help the organisation grow and reach its full potential. I look forward to joining the Alliance Donne board of directors and meeting all its members very soon!

Phyllis De Lucia

She has experience as an office manager overseeing IT and office equipment, and has chaired school councils and managed football teams. Ten years ago, she turned her passion for travel into a career as a travel consultant, inspiring others to explore the world while managing planning, research, and customer service. She supports Alliance Donne’s mission to celebrate and recognize the achievements of women of Italian heritage, both for the present and future generations.
